Travel & Trip Information
Everything you need to know to get to Adak Island and make the most of your hunt or fishing trip.
Getting to Adak Island
Adak Island is served by Alaska Airlines with flights from Anchorage (ANC) twice weekly. The flight takes approximately 3.5 hours and lands at Adak Airport (ADK). We coordinate all island transfers.
Most guests fly into Anchorage the day before their Adak departure. We recommend arriving in Anchorage at least one day early to account for weather delays — Aleutian weather can be unpredictable.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the weather like on Adak Island?
Adak Island has a maritime subarctic climate. Expect wind, rain, and fog year-round. Summer temperatures range from 40–55°F; fall and winter from 25–45°F. Wind is the biggest factor — always pack waterproof, windproof gear.
Do I need a guide for caribou hunting?
Non-resident hunters are required by Alaska law to be accompanied by a licensed guide or a resident who is a close relative. Capt. Chris is a licensed guide and all hunts are fully guided.
How do I get my caribou home?
We assist with field care and meat processing. You can ship meat via Alaska Airlines cargo from Adak to Anchorage and then home. Cape and antlers can be checked as baggage or shipped. We can recommend taxidermists in Anchorage.
What licenses do I need?
You'll need an Alaska Non-Resident Hunting License, a caribou tag, and for waterfowl: a Federal Duck Stamp and HIP certification. Fishing requires an Alaska Sport Fishing License. All can be purchased online at ADF&G.
What is the deposit and cancellation policy?
A 50% deposit is required to hold your dates. The balance is due 60 days before your trip. Cancellations within 60 days forfeit the deposit. We strongly recommend trip insurance for Aleutian travel.
Can I combine hunts?
Absolutely — and we encourage it. Many guests combine caribou with sea duck hunting and/or halibut fishing for the ultimate Adak experience. Contact Capt. Chris to build a custom package.
